      <title>Armand J. Lauze, 1919 - 2010</title>

Lauze, 90, of 50 Bailey Avenue, Lewiston, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Marshwood Nursing Home, where he had been a resident since December of 2006. Born in Livermore Falls on September 8, 1919, he was the son of Delphis and Marie Dube Lauze. He moved with his family to Lewiston at a young age and was raised on Orange Street. Educated in local schools, he was a veteran of World WAr II, serving in Europe with the U.S. Army. After the war, he returned to Lewiston and married the former Patricia M. Rousseau, who passed away on September 27, 2001. He worked for many years as a hand sewer in the local shoe industry, and later went to work for Pioneer Plastics. A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, he also belonged to the American Legion, enjoyed gardening, and was an avid deer hunter. Survivors include a brother, Laurier and wife Raymonde of Jackson, TN, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by four brothers, Lucien, Lorenzo, Robert, and Wilfred, and two sisters, Jeannette Lepage and Laurette Pomerleau. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Funeral Notice&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;LAUZE, Armand, 90, of Lewiston, died in Lewiston on 9/1/10. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, from 9 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at Holy Family Church at 11 AM. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Dominic High School, c/o the Development Office, 121 Gracelawn Road, Auburn, ME  04210.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;A photo tribute will be added soon.&lt;br/&gt;</description>

Lessard (Uncle Phil), 71, of 24 Dimsdale Avenue, Lewiston. Phil died on August 31, 2010 at CMMC in Lewiston, Maine.  Born in Lewiston on September 3, 1938, he was the son of Everett and Ruth Kenney Lessard.  Phil was a 1958 graduate of Lewiston High School, where he lettered and excelled in hockey and football and like his father was considered one of the best baseball players in the area.  Additional education included graduating from the Marion Military Institute in Marion, AL, and continued his education at the University of Maine and received a business degree from Burdett College in Boston, MA.  On April 29, 1983, he married the former Jacqueline Anne Dumont.  Their primary home was in Lewiston and for many years wintered in Port Orange, FL.  Uncle Phil’s log cabin on Orr’s Island harbored countless memories of camp fires, lobster feeds, tuna fishing, and the best family outings where his beloved nieces and nephews romped and played.  Prior to his retirement he was employed for many years as salesmen for Sherwin Williams Paints.  Phil belonged to the Elks Club and loved a good round of golf.  He enjoyed watching his Red Sox, Patriots, and especially his beloved Bruins.  Phil loved his cats, and his generosity and hands on devotion to his family was unequaled.  Survivors include his wife of Lewiston, a brother, John of Riviera Beach, FL, a sister, Suzanne and her husband Weldon Svor of Lewiston, his loving nieces and nephews, Jesse of Detroit, MI, Josie Blue of NYC, Phil Svor and his wife Janet of Chalfont, PA, Shannon Leblanc and her husband MJ of Arundel, ME, and Jonathan Svor and his wife Toni of Lewiston, ME.  &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Funeral Notice&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;LESSARD, Phillip, 71, of Lewiston, died in Lewiston on August 31, 2010. Lajoie, 79, of 163 Old Greene Road, Lewiston, died at the d’Youville Pavilion on August 23, 2010, after a long illness. She was born in Lewiston on December 4, 1930, the daughter of Rosario and Victoria Allair Ouellette. She attended Holy Family School, St. Joseph Academy, and was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’49. On October 13, 1951, she married Adrien Lajoie, who passed away on September 7, 2007. Irene was a homemaker, and also worked as a school traffic guide, and was the first woman school bus driver. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends, music, skiing, and days at the ocean. A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by her sons, Leonard and wife Pat of Florida, Denis of Texas, a daughter, Bonnie of Florida, a brother, Robert Ouellette and wife Lorraine of Massachusetts, a sister, Pauline and husband Jack Parshall of Lewiston, caregivers and sister-in-law Jacqueline Lajoie and cousin Lucille Marcoux, both of Lewiston, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and her husband of 59 years. The family wishes to thank the staff of d’Youville 3 West for the care they gave Irene, and also her roommate Doris Masse, and the staff of Beacon Hospice for being there for Irene and making her final days easier for her and us. She was a member of Holy Family Church. Her Catholic faith was a source of strength throughout her life. She worked for local area shoe manufacturing companies, but retired from Bates Mill after 40 plus years of service where she met many friends who continued to get together even after retirement. She was an avid beano player, which at one time she would play every day and had great luck on her side. She loved to play cards and games with her friends, family and relatives, and also kept herself busy making and donating afghans for the needy. She was a die-hard Red Sox fan. She will be sadly missed by all who new her for her special kind ways and her willingness to help her friends and family in any way she could. She will be greatly missed by her only child, Raymond and his wife Ann Marie of Lewiston; her only grandson Jason Dionne, which she adored and was so very proud of from Auburn. She is survived by three sisters, Muriel Boutin and Lillian Morin of Lewiston and Henrietta Charpentier of Santa Barbara California.  Two brothers, Lionel Bedard of Lewiston and Ronald Bedard of Sabattus. She was predeceased by her husband and a sister, Sister Jeannine Bedard, who we are sure greeted her at the gates of heaven, and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Mary's, the rehab unit at d'Youville Pavilion, and the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their compassionate care. Also, a special thank you to a dear friend of Ray and Ann's, Bonnie Deschaine, who went out of her way to help and care for Loretta when we were unable to.  We knew she was in very good hands. God bless you. Born in Lewiston on January 13, 1926, he was the son of Joseph and Desneige Goulet Bilodeau.  Educated in local schools, graduating from Lewiston High School, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1943-45 aboard the US Delta. On October 18, 1947, he married the former Dolores F. Michaud. In 1989, he retired as a Purchasing Agent for Diamond Machine Co. A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, he also belonged to the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #22, sang in the Holy Family Choir at funerals, and enjoyed watching Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins. He found much joy in family gatherings, playing with his grandchildren, and cooking, and he enjoyed travelling with family members.  He was the most generous person his family has ever known.  Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Dolores of Lewiston, three sons, Gary and wife Cathy of Durham, David and wife Janet of Sabattus, and Paul and wife  Kathleen of Greene, a daughter, Elaine Chenard and husband Rob of Durham, two sisters, Muguette Boutin and husband Roland of Lewiston, and Glorianne Travaglini and husband Joseph of Lewiston, a brother-in-law, Ken McAuliffe of Lewiston, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Varney, 69, of Carson St. Auburn went to be with the Lord Peacefully with his family by his side, on August 9, 2010 after a courageous 14 year battle with brain cancer. He was born on July 19, 1941 in Lewiston, the son of George and Marguerite (Lovett) Varney.  He was educated in Auburn schools. In 1968 he married Jeanne Hemond. He served with the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He was employed at Gould &amp;amp; Scammon (now ENEFCO Int.) in Auburn for 36 years prior to his retirement.  He attended the Marston Corner Baptist Church. He enjoyed sports, bowling, archery, golf, fishing, hunting, and especially camping with his family at Sebago Lake State Park. He is survived by his wife of 42 years; a son, Scott Varney and his wife Julie of Lewiston, a daughter, Cheryl Peterson and husband Tim of Turner. A sister, Charlene Strout and husband Dexter of Portsmouth, NH and grandchildren, Shane Michaud, Nathaniel Peterson and Joshua Peterson. He was predeceased by his parents; a son Ricky and a sister Anita Everett.       <description>&lt;br/&gt;Priscilla A. Roy, 88, recently of Schooner Estates, Stetson Rd, Auburn, died Friday, August 6, 2010, at the Russell Park Manor in Lewiston after a short illness. Born in Lewiston on January 14, 1922, she was the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Boutin) Roberge. Educated at St. Peter's School, she worked for twenty years as an inspector at the Pepperell Manufacturing Company. On October 9, 1954, she married Henry C. Roy. Lewiston. Mr. Roy passed away on March 5, 1987. Mrs. Roy had been a member of Holy Family and St. Joseph's Catholic Churches. Lewiston. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, doing work puzzles, and listening to music and  cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Constance Roy Storer of Vernon Hills, IL, and Helene Roy of Gorham, three sons, Normand and wife Victoria of Lewiston, Paul and wife Jeannine of Lewiston, and Raymond and wife Judy of Turner, six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Matthew, Rebecca, Tamara and Sara Roy, and various nephews and nieces.       <description>&lt;br/&gt;Stella LaBrecque, 99, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at Ouellette’s Adult Foster Home Care, 124 Prospect Avenue, Lewiston. Born in Lewiston on June 28, 1911, she was the daughter of Joseph and Armenie Charest Poirier. Educated in local schools, she married Robert F. Labrecque in 1933. Mr. LaBrecque passed away on March 3, 1965. She worked for thirty nine years at the Pepperrell Manufacturing Company, retiring in 1968, and then worked for a few more years at Geiger Brothers. A member of Ss. Peter &amp;amp; Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish, she enjoyed playing cards, miniature golf, fishing, and, while her husband was alive, she enjoyed their cottage with family and friends on Lake Sabattus. She leaves a nephew, Norman and wife Pauline Couture of Auburn, a close niece Sister Therese Couture, and a dear and devoted friend Jeannine Cloutier. She was predeceased by two brothers and six sisters.The family wishes to thank Ron Ouellette and his staff for the kind and considerate care given to our aunt. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Funeral Notice&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;LABRECQUE, Stella, 99, of Lewiston. Fournier, 86, of 71 Spring Street, Auburn, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at the Russell Park Manor in Lewiston. Born in Berlin, NH, on July 16, 1924, the eldest of four children of Allen and Geraldine Lowe Fournier. Her family moved to Lewiston when she was 9 years old.  She graduated from Lewiston High School, and worked at Bates Fabrics for 42 years in both the accounts payable and then accounts receivable departments.   She loved roller skating and went several times a week.  She also loved to watch the Red Sox, and in her later years enjoyed going to plays. Shirley is survived by 3 nieces - Linda Doyon and her husband Dan,  Barbara Davis,  and Susan Barbay and her husband Christopher;  and two nephews, Michael Fournier and Thomas Fournier.  She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, two brothers, and two nephews. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Funeral Notice&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;FOURNIER, Shirley, 86, of Auburn, died in Lewiston on August 4, 2010. Violette, 85, of 99 Rosedale St., Lewiston, passed away on Friday, July 30 at his home. Born in Presque Isle, April 21, 1925, he was the son of Frank and Albion (Letallian) Violette . He married Murial Thibault Violette April 12, 1947. He served as a Corporal in the US Army during World War II and saw battle in Europe. He worked as a butcher for the A &amp;amp; P Grocers for 35 years and also worked on the construction and upkeep of the Seabrook Nuclear Plant. He was a lifetime parishioner of Holy Cross Church and a long time member of the Prospect Hill Golf Course where he spent many happy hours playing the game he loved. He was a proud member of Post 22 of the American Legion. He was a loving and caring man who was always there to help others with a lending hand. He is survived by his 2 sons, Tobie Violette and wife Carla of Auburn and Daniel Violette of Lewiston. 1 Brother Ben Violette and 2 sisters, Christine Hopkins and Pauline Bussier. 4 grandchildren, Michael, Pearl, Jennifer, and Justin. 3 great grandchildren, Kyle, Megan and Griffin and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, 2 brothers, Raymond and Angelo, 2 sisters Loula Bedette and Muriel Turgeon and a grandson, Jerred Violette. He will be missed by many for his kind heart and calm presence. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Funeral Notice&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;VIOLETTE, Philip, 85, of Lewiston, died in his home on Friday, July 30. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 9 to 11 AM, with a prayer service at 11 AM. </description>
