Brian Paul LeRiche, 53, passed away unexpectedly from COPD complications on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his home in Canton. He was born in Lewiston, Maine on June 28, 1963, the son of Alfred Noel LeRiche Jr. and Blanche (Violette) LeRiche, the twelfth of their 13 children. He attended local parochial schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1981. There are special memories of Brian, a quiet sweet boy, camping at Hermit Island , swimming at Little Wilson Pond and playing family card and board games before mental illness entered his life.  Be at peace, Brian. …

Elsie F. Ranucci, 85, of 104 Davis Avenue, Auburn, died Friday, January 13, 2017, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Born in Lynbrook, NY, on June 27, 1931, she was the daughter of Henry and Ethel Ryder Roenbeck. Educated in Lynbrook and Malverne, NY, schools, she was a graduate of Malverne High School, Class of ‘49. She worked as a secretary in Mineola, NY, and then in 1952 she married the love of her life, Dominick J. Ranucci. Mr. Ranucci passed away September 26, 2016. Besides her step-daughter, she and Dominick had three daughters and three sons, and by 1966 she was back to work as a medical transcriptionist. …

Maurice Laureat Ouellette, 84, of Central Avenue, Lewiston, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Lewiston, on July 10, 1932. The only child of Laureat J. & Marie LeBlanc Ouellette, he received his education at St. Peter & Paul Parochial School graduating in 1948 & St. Dominic High School graduating in 1951. Gertrude Landry Mynahan, known by many friends and family as “Grammy”, passed away on January 7, 2017 following a graceful, dignified fight with Alzheimer’s Disease. Gertrude was born to Antoine and Adrienne Chenard Landry in Lewiston, Maine on May 16, 1928. She and her six brothers and sisters were raised on the City Farm, where her father served as superintendent. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1946. Following her graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper at the Hill Division of the Bates Mill. On September 22, 1951, she married the love of her life, Bernard “Bunny” Mynahan. …

Sylvia B. Day, 88, of Portland, and formerly of Lewiston, died Sunday, January 1, 2017, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. A “leap year” baby, born in Lewiston on February 29, 1928, she was the daughter of Nathan and Ida Silverman Benson. She graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of ’45, and later received a bachelors of science degree from the University of Maine, Orono. On June 26, 1949, she married Charles Day, and for 53 years she was his loving wife until his passing on October 9, 2002. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren. …

Joseph R. Robert, 86, of 20 Goff Avenue, Lewiston passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Marshwood Center in Lewiston.  His loving family was with him during his final hours.  Born in Lewiston on October 20, 1930 he was the son of Edmond and Alma Robert.  After graduating from Lewiston High School, Joseph enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Okinawa during the Korean War.  After the war, he married Connie Tremblay on September 8, 1956 and they had two children together, Mark and Cindy.  He worked locally as a communications systems technician for New England Telephone and AT&T and later owned his own company, Robert’s Telephone Inc. …

John Louis Schwarz Jr, 60, formerly of Silver Spring, MD, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Born in Baltimore, MD on Nov. 17, 1956, he is the son of the late John Louis Sr. and Marjorie Fidelman Schwarz. A long-time senior executive, John was the Senior Advisor, Software Center of Excellence for the government’s Federal Acquisition Service/ Integrated Technology Services, a program aligned with the President’s goals to reduce the deficit. John’s 38-year career as a civil servant with the federal government included positions in the Department of Defense, Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, Housing and Urban Development, and the FDIC. …

Lorraine L. Dinardo, 87, formerly of Lewiston and a resident of Dover, NH, for the past 5 years, died Monday, December 19, 2016, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover. Born in Lewiston on November 3, 1929, she was the daughter of Wilda and Elsie Wiriot Gagne, and was educated in local schools. At the age of 19 she met a young Italian paper mill worker from Berlin, NH named Albert Dinardo and he talked her into marrying him and moving north to Berlin, NH. On 2/12/1949 she married and started her journey of living in the north country that lasted some 50 years. …

Gerald “Bud” Labrie, 1930 - 2016

Gerald L. Labrie, 86, a resident of Clover Manor in Auburn and a former longtime resident of Sabattus Street in Lewiston, died at Clover on December 2, 2016. Born in Lewiston on October 24, 1930, he was the son of Adrien and Almance Boutin Labrie. Educated in local schools, Bud served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his military service, he returned to Lewiston and, on July 21, 1956, he married the love of his life, the former Constance Dostie. For several years he owned the Pine Grove Bar with his brother, and later worked at Sears, was a Deputy Sheriff, worked several different positions at Pioneer Plastics, and for many years was a salesman at Country Lane Estates. …

Aline R. Cosgrove, 86, of Lewiston passed away after a short illness on November 28, 2016, in Carmel, NY while visiting family. Mrs. Cosgrove was born in Lewiston on March 26, 1930, to Henry and Aline Bussiere. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1948, and was employed by Benner’s Clothing Store until her marriage to Charles L. Cosgrove, Jr. on June 23, 1951.  They moved to Freedom, Maine returning to Lewiston in 1966. They enjoyed almost 53 years of marriage raising 5 children, and, in retirement, vacationing in Florida until Charlie’s death in 2004.  She lived independently in Lewiston, had the company of her mother, Memere, until 2010, and Jillien Johnson, their caregiver and trusted friend. …
