Paige J. Jones, 15, of 96 High Street, Auburn, died in her home on Thursday, September 25, 2014, following an eight year battle with metachromatic leukodystrophy, and surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lewiston on May 6, 1999, she was the daughter of John B. Jones and Corinna M. Chevalier. Besides her father and mother, she is survived by two brothers, Christopher Poulin and Isaiah Anderson, both of Auburn, five sisters; Jessica and husband Joe Gammon of New Gloucester, Kirstie Teague of Lewiston, Shayli Poulin of Lewiston, and Jordan and Emma Jones, both of Auburn, maternal grandmother, Anne Marie Garey of Cartwright, OK, paternal grandfather Ralph Jones of Auburn, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. …

Shirley D. Karahalios, 86, formerly of 255 Central Avenue, Lewiston, died Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. Born in Lewiston on August 8, 1928, she was the daughter of Richard and Viola Caouette Driscoll. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’46. On September 6, 1953 she married John Karahalios. Prior to the birth of her son in 1960, she worked for 16 years at New England Telephone Company, first as an operator and later as a service representative in the business office. After her children were in high school, she returned to the workforce and spent 22 years as office manager in the accounting practice of her brother-in-law, Tony Karahalios. …

John M. Peterson, 1937 - 2014

John M. Peterson, 76, of Lewiston, Maine (formerly of Phillipsburg, New Jersey) passed on September 24, 2014, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn, after a hard fought battle with melanoma.    John was born on November 16, 1937 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey and was the son of the late Richard E. Peterson and the late Agnes Kuss Peterson Wilson.

Stanley P. Clark Jr., 83, of Boothbay Harbor, and a former longtime resident of Westfield, NJ, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. Born in Hartford, Ct, on February 17, 1931, he was the son of Stanley Sr. and Mary Searle Clark. Educated in Connecticut schools, he was a graduate of Westminster Preparatory School in Simsbury, CT, Class of ’50, and in 1954 graduated from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. On January 15, 1955, he married his childhood sweetheart, the former Charlon Cairns. He served in the U.S.Army, and following his honorable discharge they lived in LaGrange, Illinois and Shreveport, LA before settling in Westfield, NJ. …

Born in Lewiston on August 13, 1943, she was the daughter of Renee and Marie Jaques Violette. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1961. on July 4,1964, she married Richard Poulin, who passed away in 1984. George R. Jones, known as Dick, of Lewiston, died at The Hospice House in Auburn on Monday, September 1, surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness. He was born in Gray to Hector Felix and Dora (Provencher) Jones on June 8, 1931. His early formative years were spent in a one-room schoolhouse accompanied by his 3 siblings.  The family moved to Lewiston where he graduated from Lewiston High School with his older brother and younger sister in 1951. After high school, he joined the Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone.  …

Mildred (Trudy) Ricker, 88, of Lewiston, died Friday, August 29th at the Androscoggin Hospice House surrounded by her family.

Trudy was born on May 11, 1926, the youngest daughter of A.H. and Mildred Chadbourne Johnson. She attended Lewiston Schools and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of ’43. She was a former member of St. Patrick’s Parish, and volunteered for many years at the St. Vincent De Paul thrift shop.

On September 9, 1950 she married Bernard (Bud) Ricker. They made their home in Lewiston. Trudy worked for many years at the Lewiston Sun-Journal. She was a devoted wife and mother and an exceptional Nana. …

Seymour Tetenman, 77, of Pompano Beach, FL, died Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Services in Auburn, following a long illness. Born in Lewiston on July 11, 1937, he was the son of Abe and May Fisher Tetenman. Educated in Lynn, MA, he served in the U.S. Army, and was a graduate of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. He worked for many years as a salesman in the shoe industry, and travelled extensively to Europe, South America, Hong Kong and China for work. In later years, he became a licensed massage therapist. …

Thelda K. Dobbins, 100, of 41 Pleasant Street, Auburn, died on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Born in Lisbon Falls, on April 26, 1914, she was the daughter of William and Gertrude Risska Kirschner. She graduated from Lisbon Falls High School in 1930, from the Farmington State Normal School in 1932, and then received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maine Orono. In 1938 she married Lester Dobbins, and they had been married for 62 years at the time of his death in 2000. Thelda taught school in Durham, Sabattus, Monmouth and Lewiston, retiring from Pettingill School in 1973, after a 35 year career. …

Adrian Labbe, 99, of Livermore, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Hospice House in Auburn. Born in Wallagrass on April 19, 1915, he was the son of Flavie Lauze and August Labbe. He grew up in Wallagrass, being the sixth of twelve siblings. The family moved to Lewiston when he was sixteen. During the war he was a member of the CCC camp, as a truck driver. He spent most of his life as a truck driver. He was extremely capable mechanically and was awarded many recognitions for his mechanical inventions while employed at Bates Mill for 25 years. In 1938 he met and married Cecile Tremblay. …
