Mariette V. Bikulcius, 99, of Montello Heights, Lewiston, and formerly of 18 Orestis Way, Lewiston, died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. Born in Lewiston on February 23, 1917, she was the daughter of Ernest and Donalda Thibeault Chaput. Educated in local schools, she married Edward Bikulcius on May 14, 1937. Mr. Bikulcius passed away on October 26, 1998. Over her working life she was a baker for the Lewiston School Department, a manager at Town Dress in Lewiston, worked in the Yard Goods Department at Peck’s Department Store, and did alterations at home. …

Euclide R. Bonneau, 93, of Montello Heights, Lewiston, and formerly a longtime resident of 6 Manning Avenue, Lewiston, died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. Born in St. Narcisse, P.Q., Canada, on September 23, 1922, he was the son of Joseph and Emma Langlois Bonneau. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’42. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Northern France, Central Europe, and the Rhineland with the 333rd Ordnance Company. After the war, he returned to Lewiston, and on August 5, 1946, he married the former Irene Desjardins. …

Gertrude W. Cantwell, 90, of 1261 NW 193rd Avenue, Pembroke Pines, FL, died October 22, 2015, at the Christallis Manor in Hollywood, FL. Born in Queens, New York, on April 18, 1925, she was the daughter of Bernard and Winifred Geary Whalen. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Queens College with a BA in Education and Minor in Music.  She began her teaching career as a Kindergarten teacher in New York. On December 26, 1949, she married Herbert E. Cantwell. She and Herb moved to their beloved State of Maine in 1957 where they reveled in welcoming family and friends to visit until Herb’s death on June 15, 2003.  …

Kevin James Goulding, 38, of Newmarket, New Hampshire, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 11, 2016. Born in Lewiston on March 22, 1978, he was the son of Walter and Cecily Kinstler Goulding Sr. He grew up in New Gloucester, and was a graduate of Gray-New Gloucester High School, Class of ’96. Kevin moved to Vermont after graduating, and worked for FedEx for several years. He returned to New Gloucester in 2000 and worked at various manufacturing jobs in the greater Portland area. He was employed for the last three years at the Walmart Distribution Center in Raymond, NH. …

On the morning of June 22nd, Anne Libbey Meldrum passed away at Clover Health Center in Auburn, surrounded by human and canine family. Anne was known for her generosity, kindness, and concern for others. She was a true bon vivant and a self-described social butterfly, consistently available for fun gatherings and lively, lingering conversations. Anne was always game for new adventures and had the ability to have a hearty laugh at her own flaws and foibles.

Anne was born in Lewiston, the youngest child of W. Scott Libbey and Helen McCarthy Libbey. From infancy she spent summers in Wayne, Maine on land acquired by her grandfather that she, in turn, taught her children and grandchildren to love. …

Fernande A. Vachon, 85, of 100 Campus Avenue, Lewiston, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. Born in St. Martin de Roustigouche, N.B., Canada, the daughter of Josepel and Sadie Rancourt Jalbert. She moved to Lewiston at a young age and was educated in local schools. On May 30, 1952 she married Robert A. Vachon. Mr. Vachon passed away on April 21, 1974. Fernande worked at Knapp Shoe for many years. After the death of her husband, she worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for ten years, retiring at age 62. …

David R. Guay Sr., 75, of Poland, and formerly of Martha’s Vineyard, died at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. A Mason, he was a Past Master of lodges in Martha’s Vineyard, MA, and Wilton, ME. Survivors include his wife, Ruth L. Guay, of Poland, a son, David Jr. of Livermore Falls, a daughter, Beth Pileeki of Norwood, MA, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Lucianna Guerrette, 90, of North Port, FL, died peacefully June 13, 2016, at her home with her daughter Elaine and son-in-law Bob by her side. Born in Saint-Ludger, Quebec, on December 16, 1925, she was the daughter of Charles and Josephine Morin Baillargeon. Educated locally, she was a graduate of St. Dominic High School. On April 26, 1947, she married Aurel J. Guerrette. Mr. Guerrette passed away on February 28, 2000. Lucy was formerly a Eucharistic Minister for Holy Family Church, she also was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, Merchant De Bonheur, Jacques Cartier Club, and retired after working 21 years at Marcotte Nursing Home in Central Supply. …

Rita L. (Guerin) Godbout, 78,  passed away peacefully at The Hospice House in Auburn on June 13, 2016 surrounded by her family.  Rita was born June 23, 1937 in Lewiston, ME.  She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1956 and was looking forward to her 60th class reunion this summer.  Rita married the love of her life, Claude Godbout, on May 31, 1958 and was married for 58 years. Rita worked as a bookkeeper, later supporting the family carpeting and upholstery business, but valued her home and family as her greatest career.  She was extremely active with various organizations and charitable events throughout her life, especially with the Auburn schools and St Louis Church.  …

Eugene B. Deslauriers, 90, formerly of 18 Union Street, Sabattus, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at the Montello Manor in Lewiston. Born in Lewiston on October 20, 1925, he was the son of Josephat and Yvonne Sylvain Deslauriers. Educated locally, he left high school early in order to enlist in the Navy during World War II serving aboard the minesweeper USS Indicative in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of operations. After the war, he returned to Maine and on April 12, 1947, married the former Muriel Scott. He was employed for a while at the Farnsworth Mill in Lisbon, and later went to work as a truck driver for Anthoine Rubber Company in Lewiston. …
