Fernande M. Jacques, 87, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, of rheumatic heart disease.  She was born in Lewiston on June 24, 1927, the daughter of Adjutor and Nelida Dostie Tardif.  Educated in local schools, she lived and worked in Lewiston her entire life. One of her earliest jobs was at Pepperell Manufacturing Company where she met her future husband.  She also worked at Victor’s Food Store and in the local shoe industry.  She retired  from Philips Elmet where she was a machine parts inspector  in 1975 due to her health. …

Yolande Roux Gagne, 91, formerly of 59 Tampa Street, Lewiston, and a resident of Birchwoods Assisted Living Community in Portland for the past 3 years, died Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House of Scarborough. Yolande was born in Lisbon on August 22, 1923, the daughter of Roland E. and Eveline Caron Roux. She attended local schools, graduating from Lewiston High School and Bliss Business College. She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish. She worked at B Peck Department store for a few years, then worked in the advertising department at the Lewiston Sun Journal for 28 years. …

Theresa L. (LeBrun) St. Clair, 91, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on May 11, 2015 at d’Youville Pavilion, where she was a resident for 6 years. She was born in Lewiston on Sept. 23, 1923, the daughter of the late Paul and Josephine (Therriault) LeBrun. She was a life long resident of Lewiston, employed in the local shoe industry and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, where she retied from in 1986. She was married to Maurice J. St. Clair on Sept. 22, 1951. He passed on Feb. 28, 1990. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish. …

Lucille M. Ledoux, 1921 - 2015

Lucille Ledoux, 93, passed away on May 5, 2015 at d'Youville Pavilion where she had received excellent and loving care since March 2012.

Born in Lewiston on July 21, 1921, she was the oldest of 12 children of Joseph and Yvonne Verreault. A graduate of Holy Family School, she attended Lewiston High School. On September 4, 1944, she married Albert Ledoux.

Following Albert's death on February 1, 1981, Lucille embraced life as a single woman. She cultivated friendships, entertained, volunteered, traveled to her children's homes where she enjoyed her grandchildren. In 1996, she moved from Lewiston to live in Biddeford. …

David M. Griffin, 56, of Greene, died Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Services in Auburn, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lewiston on February 18, 1959, he was the son of Vernon and Berta Stevens Griffin III. Educated in local schools, he attended Gray New Gloucester High School, and received his GED from Oak Hill High School in 1993. On December 18, 1982 he married the love of his life, the former Leah Tymoczko. He was employed as a mechanic for many years by Fleet Truck in Greene, retiring due to his illness. …

Eudore J. “Lou” Berube, 94, formerly of 10 Oak Park, Lewiston, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the Bolster Heights Nursing Home in Auburn, where he had been a resident for the past five years. Born in Lewiston on October 22, 1920, he was the son of Elzear and Eugenie Lalonde Berube. Educated in Lewiston schools, he worked in the local shoe industry for many years, most notably at the Bonafide and Knapp Shoe shops. On June 30, 1945, he married the former Beatrice Y. Marcotte, who passed away on April 5, 2004. Eudore, known as Lou to his friends, was a boxer in his younger years and was a life-long fan of the sport. …

Arlene Hanlon, 86, formerly of 38 Bailey Avenue, Lewiston, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the Clover Manor in Auburn, where she had been a resident for the past eight years. Born in Auburn on October 14, 1928, she was the daughter of George and Janet McFarlane. Educated in Auburn schools, she was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of ’47. She worked for in the local shoe industry for several years, mostly at Wood & Smith and Shapiro shoe shops, and later worked as a housekeeper for Marshwood Nursing Home and the Holiday Inn. Jeanne Évangeline Rousseau Laliberté, age 93, beloved mother, sister and aunt, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, at Schooner Estates Retirement Community in Auburn. The daughter of Joseph Rousseau and Josephine Bérubé, she was born in Ste-Hélène-de-Kamouraska, PQ, Canada. Jeanne was educated in Lewiston schools. She worked briefly in a local mill and shoe shop before dedicating her life to homemaking for her late husband of 63 years, Raymond, and their only child. Jeanne enjoyed gardening and sewing. She is survived by her daughter, Lucille of Sabattus, a sister, Thérèse Rousseau Goulet of Lewiston, and several nieces and nephews.

Leonel “Leo” Laurier L’Heureux, 72, of Winthrop, formerly of Auburn, passed away peacefully, with his loving wife and family by his side, Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lewiston on April 3, 1943, Leonel was the beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. Laurier and Rita Buteau L’Heureux. Educated in Poland elementary schools, Leo graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of ’61, followed by two separate graduations from the University of Maine in 1965 and 1973, receiving both Baccalaureate and Master’s Degrees in Education with concentrations in Mathematics and Science. …

Richard E. Adams, 66, of 9 Sycamore Drive, Norway, died Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, following a long illness. Born in Portland on March 1, 1949, he was the son of Richard C. and Barbara Johnson Adams. Educated in Maine schools, he went into the Marine Corps in 1967, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. Following his discharge in 1970, he returned to Maine and worked for Scarborough Downs Race Track until 1977, and from 1984 until 1996 he worked at State Wide Cleaning Service in Raymond. On March 1st, 1984, He married the former Patricia McNelly. …
