Aline R. Cosgrove, 1930 - 2016

Aline R. Cosgrove, 86, of Lewiston passed away after a short illness on November 28, 2016, in Carmel, NY while visiting family. Mrs. Cosgrove was born in Lewiston on March 26, 1930, to Henry and Aline Bussiere. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1948, and was employed by Benner’s Clothing Store until her marriage to Charles L. Cosgrove, Jr. on June 23, 1951.  They moved to Freedom, Maine returning to Lewiston in 1966. They enjoyed almost 53 years of marriage raising 5 children, and, in retirement, vacationing in Florida until Charlie’s death in 2004.  She lived independently in Lewiston, had the company of her mother, Memere, until 2010, and Jillien Johnson, their caregiver and trusted friend. …

David M. Green, 1945 - 2016

David Mitchell Green, 71, a long time resident of Lewiston and Sabattus, Maine and Palm Bay, Florida, passed away in Lewiston on Sunday, November 20, 2016,  following a year long battle with cancer. David was born in Lewiston on March 14, 1945, the son of Sherwood and Laura Durrell Green. He grew up in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of ’63, where he met his high school sweetheart Arlene Dallaire. He started his career at Sampsons Supermarket and then was transferred to Ted’s, Shop N’ Save, and Hannaford. He was a meat cutter, meat manager, and seafood manager for a total of 50 years. …

Irene Yvonne Bonneau, 94, formerly of 6 Manning Avenue, Lewiston, and a resident of Montello Heights for the past 10 months, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016, after a brief illness at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Born in Lewiston on July 11, 1922, she was the daughter of Ernest and Yvonne Roy Desjardins. Educated in local schools she attended Cours Supérieur and Acme Business College. On August 5, 1946, she married Euclide Bonneau, and together they raised four children. Prior to being a homemaker, she worked as a clerk at the Register of Deeds. A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, she was active in the Ladies of St. …

Robert “ Bob” Cyr, of Auburn, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016, at home with family. Born June 7, 1935, he was the son of Edmund and Yvonne(Cailler) Cyr.  He served in U.S. Army-Operation Red Wing, was a member of American Legion Post #153, and was a founding member of St. Philip’s Church. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Fernande (Caron) Cyr; three sons, Marc and wife Brenda, Dan and wife Terri, David and wife Kathleen; one daughter, Lisa and husband David Coburn; a brother, Leo Cyr and wife Rachel of Lewiston, three sisters; Jennette Delisle and husband John of Arizona, Rita Hall of California, and Diane Delisle and husband Bob of Washington; nine grandchildren, one great grandson, and many nieces and nephews. …

William R. Snow, 1931 - 2016

William R. Snow, 85, of Lewiston, passed away at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Hospice & Home Care Services in Auburn on Saturday, November 5, 2016. Born in Lewiston on February 12, 1931, he was the son of Asa and Floris Forbes Snow. He graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of ’49, and worked as a die maker in the local shoe industry. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Caribbean cruises and restoring old trunks. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, the former Lucille Roux of Lewiston, two sons, Glen W. Snow of Lewiston, and Brian W. Snow and wife Michelle of Van Buren, a grandson, Johnathan Snow of Massachusetts, and a granddaughter, Alissa Snow Chute and husband Dan of Caribou. 


Murielle M. Lapointe, 1926 - 2016

Murielle Marie-ange Lapointe, 90, of Greene, passed away peacefully at the d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston on November 5th, 2016, following a brief illness. Born in Lewiston on September 1, 1926, she was the daughter of Doria and Marianna Bissonette Gauthier, and step-daughter of Delina Fortin Gauthier. She was a well known seamstress in the area for many years. On April 3, 1948, she married Alfred Lapointe Jr, and together they raised 3 children. Alfred died in 2005 after they shared 57 years together. She loved to sew, do crafts, decorate and garden. Her final months were spent in the home of her daughter Diane with her husband Cleve. …

Frances P. Boisvert, 90, of Lewiston, passed Friday, November 4, 2016, at the Central Maine Medical Center. Frances was born in Lewiston on April 29, 1926, the daughter of Herbert T. and Mary Towle Cox. She attended school in Lewiston, and worked at the Continental Mill for several years, and later worked at the Hillcrest Hatchery. She was married to Bertrand Boisvert, who passed away October 17, 1986. An avid gardener, she loved planting tomatoes, and couldn’t wait for the first of the season. Frances loved her family, and enjoyed going out for lunch with her sister, nieces, and sister-in-law. …

Georgette B. Feely, 1920 - 2016

Georgette B. Feely, 95, formerly of Boston Avenue, Lewiston, died Wednesday, November 2, at  Schooner Estates in Auburn, where she resided for over six years. She was born in Lewiston, November 17, 1920, the daughter of Eugene and Annette (Chatel) Cloutier. She was educated in a Canadian convent until she was twelve, and then attended Lewiston public schools. On November 28, 1942, she married Joseph Feely and raised five children during their 56 years of marriage. During the 1970s, she worked for the Lewiston School Department’s lunch program, and also worked at the Lewiston polling sites during elections. …

Marcy Plavin passed away peacefully and gracefully on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at her home in Lewiston. Marcy was born in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of Clara and Alex Sakolsky, sister of Howard Sakolsky.  For 57 years, she was the loving wife of Leonard N. Plavin until his passing in 2010. Marcy moved to Maine after marrying Leonard, in 1953.  She started teaching dance at the Y in Auburn, which led to a position at Bates College, in 1965,  where she started to build the dance program.  In 1969, Marcy founded the Bates College Modern Dance Company, which produced and performed multiple dance concerts under her direction and became a haven Bates dancers. …

Miette St. Onge, 1928 - 2016

Miette St. Onge, 88, of Lewiston and recently of Clover Manor in Auburn passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Hospice House in Auburn on Sunday, October 30. She was born in Lewiston on January 13, 1928, the daughter of Albert and Marie (Rousseau) Labonte. Miette married her friend since the age of 9, Laurier (Larry) St. Onge on June 28, 1952, at SS Peter and Paul church and they shared 45 years of family life together raising four children until his death in January of 1998. Miette worked at her family's business, Labonte Wood Yard, in her teens and early twenties and then spent 38 years at Knapp Shoe until her retirement in the early 1990s. …
