Judith Jumper, 78, of 46 Googin St. Lewiston, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at D'Youville Pavilion in Lewiston due to complications from her long battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Portland on June 10, 1938, she was the daughter of Eugene and Ruth Carbee Gurney. She attended elementary school in Portland, a city that held a tight grip on her heart throughout her life. Her family relocated to Lewiston where she went to and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1956. She worked in the office at Hall & Knight Hardware until she married the love of her life David Jumper April 18, 1964. …

Annette Levasseur Dallaire, 1918 - 2016

Annette Levasseur Dallaire, a lifelong resident of Lewiston and more recently of Schooner Estates, died at her residence on Tuesday, August 9, at the age of 98. Daughter of Joseph and Albertine Moreau Levasseur, she was born on February 4, 1918.  Annette and her siblings made great personal sacrifices to keep themselves together as a family unit with the untimely death of both parents. Despite numerous adversities in her life, Annette's love of life and all of its beauty endeared her to everyone.  As a parishioner of Holy Family Church. she was a woman of deep faith who joyously brought the Eucharist to residents in local nursing homes.  …

Clifford E. Hodgman, 1925 - 2016



Clifford E. Hodgman, 90, formerly of Lewiston, died Sunday, August 7, 2016, at the Clover Manor in Auburn with is three loving children by his side. He was born on October 23, 1925, in Lewiston, the son of Albert L. and Ruth (Ellis) Hodgman. 

He was educated in the schools of Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School with the Class of ’43. After high school he attended Auburn Maine School of Commerce and studied there until December of 1943 when he entered the Army. 

In the service of his country he served in England, France, Belgium, the Philippines and also with the 8th Army in the occupation of Japan. …

Rosamond L. Pinard, 1931 - 2016

Rosamond L. Pinard, 85, of 710 Middle Road, Sabattus, died Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Minot on May 19, 1931, she was the daughter of Ashley and Mildred Polley McDonald. She married Leo R. Pinard in 1951. Mr. Pinard passed away on April 6,1991. A dedicated mother and homemaker, she went to work after her children were grown as a hand sewer at Lawrence Shoe. She later earned her GED, got certified as a Nurses Aide, and then worked at d’Youville Pavilion until her retirement in 1992. Survivors include four sons, Gary and wife Dee Dee of Farmingdale, Leo and wife Marion, Richard and wife Shirley, and Paul, all of Sabattus, four daughters, Brenda Pinard of Lewiston, Bonnie and husband Frank Cabral of Holly Hill, FL, Debbie and husband Roland Beaulieu of Ormond Beach, FL, and Rosalie Boyden of Durham, two step-sons, Raymond Pinard of Newcastle, NH, and George Pinard of El Paso, TX, a step-daughter, Cecile and husband Roger Castonguay of Lewiston, twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. …

Theresa B. Shostak, 1927 - 2016

Theresa B. Shostak, of Greene, died July 28, 2016, at Central Maine Medical Center.  Born January 11, 1927 in Nashua, NH, she was the daughter of William H. and Dora (McLaughlin) Barry.  She graduated from Nashua High School in 1943 and in 1948 married Stanley M. Shostak, also of Nashua, who survives her.  They moved to Lewiston in 1966 and to Greene in 1986.  Theresa worked at Bates College for 20 years, retiring as Manager of Print, Mail, and Secretarial Services.  She was also a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.

Theresa loved children, and was an attentive mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  …

Laurier V. Roy, 81, of 540 Lincoln Street, Lewiston, died Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn, surrounded by his family. Born in St. Quentin, N.B., Canada, he was the son of Joseph W. and Yvonne Lepage Roy. Educated in Canadian schools, he moved to the local area as a young man where he worked at the Hill Mill , but will be best remembered for his foundation contracting as the owner of L & A Concrete. A member of the former St. Mary’s Church and a communicant of Holy Cross Church, he was a 4th Degree Knight of the Lisbon Knight of Columbus, Council 4049, and enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting, bagging his last moose in his late 70s. …

Mariette V. Bikulcius, 99, of Montello Heights, Lewiston, and formerly of 18 Orestis Way, Lewiston, died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. Born in Lewiston on February 23, 1917, she was the daughter of Ernest and Donalda Thibeault Chaput. Educated in local schools, she married Edward Bikulcius on May 14, 1937. Mr. Bikulcius passed away on October 26, 1998. Over her working life she was a baker for the Lewiston School Department, a manager at Town Dress in Lewiston, worked in the Yard Goods Department at Peck’s Department Store, and did alterations at home. …

Euclide R. Bonneau, 93, of Montello Heights, Lewiston, and formerly a longtime resident of 6 Manning Avenue, Lewiston, died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. Born in St. Narcisse, P.Q., Canada, on September 23, 1922, he was the son of Joseph and Emma Langlois Bonneau. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’42. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Northern France, Central Europe, and the Rhineland with the 333rd Ordnance Company. After the war, he returned to Lewiston, and on August 5, 1946, he married the former Irene Desjardins. …

Gertrude W. Cantwell, 90, of 1261 NW 193rd Avenue, Pembroke Pines, FL, died October 22, 2015, at the Christallis Manor in Hollywood, FL. Born in Queens, New York, on April 18, 1925, she was the daughter of Bernard and Winifred Geary Whalen. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Queens College with a BA in Education and Minor in Music.  She began her teaching career as a Kindergarten teacher in New York. On December 26, 1949, she married Herbert E. Cantwell. She and Herb moved to their beloved State of Maine in 1957 where they reveled in welcoming family and friends to visit until Herb’s death on June 15, 2003.  …

Kevin James Goulding, 38, of Newmarket, New Hampshire, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 11, 2016. Born in Lewiston on March 22, 1978, he was the son of Walter and Cecily Kinstler Goulding Sr. He grew up in New Gloucester, and was a graduate of Gray-New Gloucester High School, Class of ’96. Kevin moved to Vermont after graduating, and worked for FedEx for several years. He returned to New Gloucester in 2000 and worked at various manufacturing jobs in the greater Portland area. He was employed for the last three years at the Walmart Distribution Center in Raymond, NH. …
