Chester R. Dulac, 1921 - 2014

Chester R. Dulac, 92, of Lewiston, Maine passed away on April 18, 2014 at D'Youville Pavilion. "Chet" was born on July 25, 1921, the son of Rodolphe and Mora (Arnoldy) Dulac.  He attended Lisbon schools and enlisted in the Navy on August 31, 1942. He proudly served his country during WWII on the destroyer, The USS Lavallette, while engaging the enemy in fierce battles on several occasions. After his discharge from the Navy, he married the former Jeannette Labonte in May of 1945.  Their only child, Richard, was born in April of 1946.  In 1950 "Chet" and his family moved into a new home on Gulf Island Road in Lewiston that he helped build. …

Richard J. Langelier, 1925 - 2014


Richard J. Langelier, 89, of 74 Lake Auburn Avenue and formerly of 41 Mellon Street, Lewiston, died at his home on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Born in Lewiston on March 25, 1925, he was the son of Odina and Marie Carrier Langelier. Educated in local schools, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe with the U.S. Army’s Office of Strategic Services. After the war, he returned to Maine and on June 15, 1946, married the former Helen Moyes. Mrs. Langelier passed away on April 6, 2007. Prior to his retirement, he worked in construction for many years. A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, he also belonged to the American Legion and was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. …

Raymond B. Levesque, 1924 - 2014

Raymond B. Levesque, 90, of 78 Biron Avenue, Lewiston, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Ouellette’s Adult Foster Care in Lewiston. Born in Lewiston on March 18, 1924, he was the son of Leo and Alice Gendron Levesque. Educated locally, he was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. On May 29, 1948, he married the former Dorothy Gagne, who passed away on May 25, 2010. He worked in the local shoe industry for several years, and then went to work as a civil service employee at the Brunswick Naval Air Station, retiring in 1986. Following his retirement, he and his wife spent the next decade traveling and visiting relatives out of state. …

Rosaire Roy Jr., 71, of 8 Amanda Drive, North Turner, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, following a long illness. Born in St. Agathe on February 1, 1943, he was the son of Rosaire and Ida Bourgoin Roy Sr. Educated in Fort Kent, he married the former Marie Rossingnol in 1963. For many years, he worked as a truck driver for J & R Builders in New York State. After moving back to Maine in 1976, he worked for Decoster until fully retiring at the age of 65. Rosaire loved spending time with his dog, Buddy, enjoyed going to camp in the summers, giving his wife advice on the birdhouses she built, and especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren. …

Rodney M. Ritchie, 51, of Middlesex, NC, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at his childhood home in Lewiston, after a brief, courageous battle with an aggressive cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in Lewiston on October 8, 1962, he was the son of Carroll and Eleanor Frazier Ritchie. He graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of ’81, and continued his electrical education at CMVTI. He worked with his father and brother all of his life in the family electrical business, and took great pride in a job well done. In 1985, he married the former Jayna Sebra, who passed away in 2001. …

Helen Levesque, 89, of Auburn, died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at the Clover Manor in Auburn. A native of Lewiston, she was born July 5, 1924, the only child of Elisee and Roseanna Payeur Levesque.  Education was highly valued in the family.  After graduating from Lewiston High School Helen earned degrees from Regis College in Weston, MA (French and Spanish) and Catholic University in Washington, D.C. (Spanish and Education). 

Helen’s 32 year teaching career began with a one year position at an army-dependent school on the Japanese island of Hokkaido.  When she returned to Maine she taught English, Ancient History, and Science in South Paris.  …

       Ruth Nihan Konecki, 93, of Field Road, Falmouth, widow of Dr. John T. Konecki, retired nurse, and beloved family matriarch known as “Super Nana,” died at home on March 29, 2014 in the company of her family and following a lengthy illness.

The only daughter of George and Annie Katherine (Rogers) Nihan, Ruth was born on August 15, 1920 in Lynn, Massachusetts.  She spent her younger years in the company of her six brothers, and enjoyed summers on Lake Attitash in Amesbury. A 1938 graduate of Lynn English High School, Ruth earned her nursing diploma at Lynn Hospital. …

Roland Bissonette, 87, of Auburn, passed away in Lewiston Saturday, March 15, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born in Lewiston, Me. March 13, 1927, the son of Louis and Yvonne Berthiaume Bissonette. He attended Lewiston schools and was very active playing baseball and softball with his brothers in various L/A leagues during the late 1940’s and 1950’s. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was a life member of the American Legion #153. On April 12, l947, he married “his honey” of almost 67 years, Madeline Rousseau. He retired in 1985 after 35 years with the Maine Central Railroad at Rigby Yard in South Portland. …

Ramona P. Verreault, 95, formerly of Lewiston, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, in Clearwater, FL, with her niece Dale Ebert at her side. She was born in Lewiston March 25, 1918, the daughter of Raymond and Adrienne Gagne Poulin.  Educated locally, she was employed for many years as a sales clerk at Ward Bros in Lewiston. She was married to Leo U. Verreault, who died in 1982. Ramona enjoyed shopping, going to Rolandeau’s for lunch with her friends, and watching the Boston Celtics on TV. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Lorraine Poulin of Lewiston, two nieces, Dale and husband Curtis Ebert of Clearwater, FL, and Judith and husband Timothy Donnelly of Cumberland, three nephews, Marc Poulin and wife Theresa of Lowell, MA, Keith Poulin and wife Kristen of Byfield, MA, and Jack Poulin of Los Angeles, CA, several great-nieces and nephews, and two great-great-nieces. …

Laurent C. Lacoste, 83, of 38 Adams Road, Greene, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Hospice House in Auburn. Born on November 30, 1930, in Ste. Agathe, P.Q., Canada, the son of Archille and Eva Tanguay Lacoste. On May 21, 1949, he married the former Anita Grondin, who passed way on February 23, 2010. Larry worked as a salesman for the Fuller Brush Company for over 25 years, and then owned and managed rental properties in Lewiston and Sabattus. A 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, he also belonged to Our Lady of the Rosary Church, and for many years was active in the Lewiston Landlord Association. …
