Rita F. Beliveau, 1917 - 2015

Rita F. Beliveau, 98, of Lewiston died August 21, 2015 at D’Youville Pavilion, surrounded by her family.  She was born in Lewiston, Maine on June 12, 1917, the first of three children of Albert and Louise Fortier.  Rita grew up in Auburn, Maine and attended Edward Little High School, graduating with class of 1935.  She then studied nursing at St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, and received her R.N. class of  1939. She worked as a nurse at St. Mary’s until her marriage to Bertrand A. Beliveau, M.D.  Upon their marriage in 1940, Rita immediately became a stepmother to Bertrand’s son, John, whose mother, Mary Twomey Beliveau, died in February of 1937.  …

Rene Yvon Moreau, 93, former resident of 64 Wood Street in Lewiston and a resident of Schooner Estates in Auburn for the past two years, died Thursday, August 20, 2015, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. Born in Lewiston on February 6, 1922, he was the son of Yvon and Virginie Albert Moreau. Educated in local schools, he was a veteran of World War II,  serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater. After the war he returned to Lewiston, and on November 22, 1947, he married the former Rose Ratte. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing sports, including tennis, hockey and football. …

Anita L. Lachapelle, 69, of 161 Poplar Hill Road, Turner, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. Born in Lewiston on January 9, 1946, Anita was the daughter of Rosaire and Jeannette Gravel Latulippe. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of St. Dominic’s High School, Class of ‘63. On November 4, 1972, she married Gerald L. Lachapelle. She was employed for several years as an administrative assistant to the attorney Jack Simmons, and then spent many years taking depositions for a variety of area attorneys. …

Anne Marie Y. Parent, 49, of Sabattus, passed away Wednesday, August 5, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice in Auburn, following a courageous eleven year battle with cancer. Born in Lewiston on April 30, 1966, she was the daughter of Donald and Rita  Boisvert Martin.  Educated locally she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’84. She was very proud of receiving her bachelors degree in Nursing from CMTVI, while raising her two children on her own and undergoing chemotherapy treatments. As a registered nurse, she worked in several local hospitals and nursing homes, as well as private duty nursing. …

George J. Stone, of Sabattus, Maine, and Gulfport, Florida, passed away on July 30, 2015 at D’Youville Rehab after a short illness. George was born in Lewiston on March 9, 1925, the younger son of Winnifred (Parent) and George Holland Stone.  George graduated in 1943 from Lewiston High School.  At LHS, George played third base for the Blue Devils’ very successful teams of the early 40’s and also played basketball, football and swimming.  Immediately after graduation, George joined the United States Army and served his country in World War II in the Pacific including Hawaii, Tinian and the Japanese Home Islands. …

Muriel A. Breton, 87, of 211 Randall Road, Lewiston, died Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Cedars Retirement Home in Portland. Born in Lewiston on May 15, 1928, she was the daughter of Antonio A. and Eva Rivard Breton. She was educated at St. Peter’s School, was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’47, and attended Burdette College. She worked at the Cushman Shoe Company and later transferred to Crest Shoe, where she worked as Assistant Treasurer until her retirement in 1989. A member of St. Peter & Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish, she also belonged to Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Lewiston Senior Citizens, and the YWCA. …

Raymond R. Lampron, “Dadou”, 73, formerly of Lewiston, succumbed to complications of COPD on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at the Maine Veterans Home Residential Care Unit, in South Paris, ME. He was born in Lewiston, Maine on Nov. 30, 1941, the son of the late Leo and Dora (Cote) Lampron. Raymond attended Lewiston schools and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962 when he was honorably discharged. Raymond returned to Maine and lived his entire adult life in Lewiston, the city that he loved and was proud to call home. He married Yolande (Guay) Lampron in 1964 and for forty three years they shared their lives, and together they raised their three children, and remained lifelong friends. …

Russell Patten Burbank, born 6/6/31 in Detroit Michigan. Son of John C and Mildred Kitchen Burbank. He attended URI and graduated from Harvard University Extension School. He is survived by his wife Carol Mae Washburn, Lewiston, ME. He married Barbara Congdon deceased in 1982. He is survived by his four sons, John and wife, Heidi of York, ME and their daughter’s Erin and Morgan. David and Beth, Manchester, NH and their son’s Ian and Quinn. Thomas and Elizabeth of Madbury, NH and their children; Becky and husband Scott Martin, great grandchild Hugo, son Jake and his wife Sally. …

Laurent Rene Doyon, ”Rene”, 87 years old, of Lewiston, passed away in his home on Sunday, June 28, 2015, due to a heart attack. He was born on November 28, 1927 in Lewiston. He attended Hotel Road Country School, Walton Junior High School, and Edward Little High School all in Auburn, ME. He served in the US Navy from January 1946 – November 1947.  He was a Seaman 1st Class.  He was stationed in Portsmouth, VA., and worked in the radar division aboard the Battleship U.S.S. Mississippi. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the military, he began working at the Hill Mill in Lewiston, ME where he worked as a weaver, loom changer and loom fixer for 17 years.  …

Arthur H. Myrick, 81, of 25 Carson Street, Auburn, died Sunday, July 5, 2015, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lewiston on March 8, 1934, he was the son of Arthur F. and Ida V. Burgess Myrick. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of ’52. On May 4, 1957, he married the former Maureen Michael. They were happily married for 55 years until Maureen passed on May 19, 2012. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years as a tractor trailer driver for Armour, Sanborns, and APA Transport. …
