Anita M. Plourde

Life Story

Anita M. Plourde, 90, a resident of d’Youville Pavilion for the past three years, died Sunday, November 16, 2014, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. Born in Lewiston on July 18, 1924, she was the daughter of George and Henriette Cormier Lajoie. Educated in local schools, she married Lionel Plourde in 1952. Mr. Plourde passed away in 1984. Anita worked at several different places over the years, retiring from Pioneer Plastics in 1986. She was a longtime resident of Riverside Drive in Auburn, and took great pride in maintaining her home’s appearance and landscaping. A member of Auburn Senior Citizens and Sacred Heart Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, she is survived by a son, Roger and wife Mary Flowers of Bentonville, AR, two sisters, Lorraine Clark of Connecticut, and Carmen Carrier of Lewiston, two grandchildren, Christina and husband Todd Beckerman of Providence, RI, and Joseph Plourde of Brooklyn, NY, a great-granddaughter, Grace Beckerman, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Maurice Lajoie and Lawrence “Pete” Lajoie, and four sisters; Anne Bousquet, Fern Juneau, Adrienne Carpentier, and Laurina Lajoie.
