After the war, he returned to Lewiston and married Theresa Bernier on June 19, 1948.  Terry was Gene’s one and only, not a day went by that Gene did not talk and share memories of her.  They were members of St. Joseph Church. Later in years attended church at St. Patrick’s Church, being friends with Monsignor Gleason. Most recently Gene attended services at St Peters and Paul Basilica. Theresa passed away on April 18, 1997.  Gene worked as a plumber, mostly for Dave Collins Inc. Plumbing and Heating.  He was a member of multiple bowling leagues in his younger years and was a member of AMVETS Post #6. Gene enjoyed watching NASCAR, and was a huge fan of Kyle Busch and was a lifelong New England Patriots fan.
