Florence E. Roy Dinsmore, 107, died May 12, 2013, at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Born in Bowdoin on April 2, 1906, she was the daughter of Francois and Azilda Bombardier Lachapelle. The family moved to Taunton, MA, where she worked at Wheaton College. She married Romeo E. Roy in 1926 in Taunton and returned to Lewiston. Mr. Roy passed in July of 1954. In 1959, Florence married Louis Dinsmore of Lisbon. Mr. Dinsmore passed away in 1971. Florence worked as a mender in the W.S. Libbey Mill for many years, and also worked at the Worumbo Mill in Lisbon. She was a member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, and also attended Mass at the Chapel of Maison Marcotte. Her hobby was sewing, and she loved mending for anyone who needed her expertise. She made most of her own clothing, and people all over the U.S. still use her well known pot holders. Florence was also very handy around the house, and took pride in hanging all the wallpaper in her home. She loved strolling around the grounds at Schooner Estates on sunny days with her walker and her favorite L.L. Bean hat. She also loved eating at Burger King and K.F.C., her two favorites. The last of the eleven Lachapelle children, she is survived by three sons; Robert Roy and wife Theresa of Lewiston, Edward Roy and wife Constance of Lewiston, and Norman Roy of North Hampton, MA, eleven grandchildren; Stephen Roy and wife Carol, Elizabeth Collins and husband Joseph, Elaine Clements and husband Richard, Ann Marie Roy, Donna Deschene and husband Donald, Edward Roy Jr., Karen Shaw and husband Richard, Paul Roy and longtime companion Yvette Ramirrez, Deborah Donahue, Rebecca Cockfield and husband Jeffrey, and Richard Stimpson, sixteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her ten brothers and sisters; Grace, Rosa, Rose Alva, Beatrice, Leo, Alfred, Arthur, Alphonse, Napoleon, and her sister Lora French, who passed away on March 2, 2010, at the age of 106. The family thanks the staffs of Schooner Estates and Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for all the loving care they gave Florence during the last few years.
