Life Story

France L. Poussard, 89, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, April 20, 2013, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Services in Auburn, after a short stay.  She was born in Lewiston on October 3, 1923, the daughter of Esdras and Georgianna Prevost Larrivee. She married Arthur Poussard on December 31, 1941. Art and Fran raised their seven children in SAbattus until 1967 when they moved to Lewiston. Art and Fran were the founders of Poussard’s Texaco in Sabattus Road, as well as Fran’s Dairy Treat. They retired and wintered in Florida for many years. Fran was an avid seamstress, enjoyed crafts and cooking, and loved visits from family and friends. She was happiest when she was feeding company. She looked forward to weekly prayer visits with Barbara Mathy. Fran is survived by her seven children; Arthur Jr. and wife Teri of Sabattus, Rayne and wife Connie of Baltimore, MD, Dorothy and husband Alfred Smith of Lisbon Falls, Donald and wife Susan of Greene, Reginald and wife Claire of Lewiston, Susan McKay and friend Leo Lemay of Lewiston, and Diann and husband James King of Lewiston. She was proud of her seventeen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Poussard Sr., and her twelve siblings. She had a great sense of humor and will be missed by many.
