Frances E. Ferrara

Life Story

Frances E. Ferrara, 70, of 15 Lake Street, Sabattus, died at her home on Thursday, February 4, 2021, following a long illness. Born in Revere, MA, on September 27, 1950, she was the oldest of the ten children of William and Ethel Segool Croce. Educated in Massachusetts schools, she married the love of her life, Donald K. Ferrara Sr., on April 7, 1968. Don passed only three days before Frances, on February 1, 2021. They moved to Mercer, ME, in 1980. Besides being a devoted wife and mother, she also worked several different jobs, including as a prison guard at the Maine State Prison in Thomaston, at AMHI in Augusta, and as a manager at several places along the way. Along with her husband, she loved going to the casino in Oxford, boating and fishing. She was also a big Bingo lover, and Don would go along to be with her. They also loved big family dinners, with lobster feeds on the porch being a favorite. She also enjoyed watching old western tv shows like Gunsmoke and Bonanza, and loved yard sales and second hand stores. They loved animals as well and had many dogs and cats along the way.  Both were very giving people and were there for all of us and anyone who needed them. A member of Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by three sons, Donald Jr. and wife Rhonda of Greene, William and partner Jenn Davis of Port Richey, FL, and Brian and partner Angela Berry of Mercer, ME, five grandchildren, Nichole Clark, Donald Ferrara III, Courtney Ferrara, William Ferrara II, and Jacob Ferrara, and one great-grandchild, Michael Clark. Besides her parents and husband, Frances was predeceased by an infant daughter, Sharon, a sister Doreen Riley, and a brother, William Croce. Our family is thankful for all the support we received from Androscoggin Hospice, they were all angels to our mom.

Services will be held at a later date.
