Gene Edwin Reaves

Life Story

Gene Edwin Reaves, 78, of Freeport, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at this home under hospice care. He was born on December 26, 1939 in Chamerville, Texas. He was the son of Therman and Lula Starens Danials Reaves. He obtained his GED in the Navy. He married Barbara N. Puiia Reaves in 1961. He was apart of the Freeport Athletic Association, a member of the Freeport Masonic Lodge #23, Past Master Mason in 1992, Gene was also know as Tex, dad and the best of all grandpa, he coached little league baseball for six years for his two sons. His family and friends will remember his kind heart and those who worked in food service will remember his sense of humor. He along with his wife held a family dinner ever Tuesday that would sometimes include friends and friends of friends. No matter who would find them selves at his table they were always made to feel welcomed. Gene was surrounded by his family listen to their stories and would have not wanted it any other way. He leaves an empty seat at the table but he left his family with great memories. Survivors include; wife, Barbara Reaves, two sons; Scott and his wife Maddy Soule Reaves and Daniel and his wife Cindy Lu Reaves, a daughter, Deborah and her husband Charles Hoar, three sisters, Mildred Cotton, Meredith Walden, and Peggy Stanley, twelve grandchildren; Tenaj Ormsby, Joshua Ormsby, Jamie Hoar, Justin and his wife Christina,  Jennifer Reaves, Maribel Reaves, Connie Peirre, Cassie Jarred, Tyson Reaves, Calvin Burgess, and Colton Reaves. Besides his parents, predeceased by his grandson Nicolas Reaves. A celebration of Genes life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Freeport Masonic Lodge #23, 33 Mallet Drive, Freeport, ME 04032, 10 AM. Burial will be held in the spring at the Burr Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to Freeport Masonic Lodge #23, 33 Mallet Drive, Freeport, ME 04032.
