Life Story

Napoleon J. Grivois Jr., 86, formerly of 25 Martha Avenue, Lewiston, died Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the Meadows Assisted Living Center in Greene, where he had been a resident for the past year and a half. Born in Waterville on December 12, 1926, he was the son of Napoleon and Josephine (Parent) Grivois Sr. Educated in Auburn schools, he was a World War II veteran, serving in Europe with the US Army. After the war, he returned to the local area, and on November 8, 1952, he married the former Gertrude Croteau in Ss. Peter & Paul Church. Mrs. Grivois passed away on May 2, 2005. Always very good with his hands, Napoleon was a skilled tailor, carpenter, and woodworker. He worked for many years as a carpenter, and, following his retirement, he built an exact scale model of his house just to keep busy. Survivors include a son, Paul and wife Bettina of Lewiston, a sister, Jackie and husband Fern Bussierre of Tennessee,  a grandson, Ryun Grivois of Saco, and several nieces and nephews.
