Patricia Ann Chute

Life Story

Patricia Ann Chute, 74, of 91 Village Drive, Lewiston, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn, surrounded by her family and following a long battle with cancer. Born in Lewiston on January 20, 1940, she was the daughter of Arthur and Loretta Noel Hopkins. Educated in local schools, she graduated from Lewiston High School she spent many years working for Bates Manufacturing and Coca Cola before going to work for the law firm of Berman and Simmons, retiring at age 60 due to illness. Known as “Pat C.”, she was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, and over her 37 years in recovery was a sponsor and inspirational speaker to many who would come from near and far to hear her stories of life in sobriety. A parishioner of the former St. Joseph’s Church, she is survived by two sons, David Marquis of Lewiston, and Peter Marquis of Old Orchard Beach, a daughter, Jacqueline and husband Brian Smith of Brunswick, a step daughter Tamiko and her husband Brian White of Stockbridge, Georgia, three brothers, Thomas Hopkins and wife Jeannie of Burke, VA, George Hopkins and wife Donna of Lewiston,  Dennis Hopkins and wife Sandy of Lewiston, and a beloved sister, Suzanne and husband Rodney Wade of Norway. She also leaves behind special nephew who was like a son to her, David Levasseur of Sabattus, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Besides her parents, Arthur and Loretta, she was predeceased by her husband, Larry J. Chute, who passed away on December 8, 2009, and her beloved sister, Janice Healey 2011. A special thanks goes out to Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice Care.
