Life Story

Rolande I. LeClair, 95, A former resident of 5 Lafayette Street, Lewiston, passed away peacefully in the company of family and friends Tuesday, September 27, 2016, while a hospice patient at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston, following a period of declining health. She was born in Lewiston on January 5, 1921, the only child of Auguste and Alexina “Blanche” Morin Maillet. Educated in Lewiston schools, she was the valedictorian of her class at Acme Business College. She worked variously over the years for the City of Lewiston, Roy Brothers Transportation, Hudson Bus Lines and Lewiston Lumber Company, a job she particularly enjoyed and from which she finally retired. On July 20, 1946, she married Gaston L. “Gus” LeClair on his return from U.S. Navy service in WWII and they spent 60 years together before his sudden passing in February 2007. A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by her daughter, Lucille and husband Lee Clement of Lewiston; a son, Norman and Wife Charlene LeClair of Auburn; Four grandchildren, Christopher LeClair of Lewiston; Nathan LeClair of Auburn; Karen Palleschi and husband Eric of Monmouth, and Scott Clement and wife Amy of Hampden, as well as four great-grandchildren, Kyle and Lillian Palleschi of Monmouth and Allyson and Hannah Clement of Hampden. The family wishes to thank the staff of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Services for the excellent and compassionate care they provided during her final days.
