Shirley D. Karahalios

Shirley D. Karahalios, 86, formerly of 255 Central Avenue, Lewiston, died Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. Born in Lewiston on August 8, 1928, she was the daughter of Richard and Viola Caouette Driscoll. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’46. On September 6, 1953 she married John Karahalios. Prior to the birth of her son in 1960, she worked for 16 years at New England Telephone Company, first as an operator and later as a service representative in the business office. After her children were in high school, she returned to the workforce and spent 22 years as office manager in the accounting practice of her brother-in-law, Tony Karahalios. During her working years she also belonged to several local women’s business organizations. A devoted wife and mother, she was also a very active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, serving terms as treasurer, on the parish council, and volunteering whenever needed. Besides her loving husband John of Lewiston, she is survived by a son, Richard of Corona, CA, a daughter, Tina and husband Kimdall Bullock of Corona, CA, four grandchildren; Nicole, Reed, Hannah, and Lindsay Bullock, sister-in-law Georgia Sacclaris, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by brother-in-law & sister-in-laws Tony & Tiggi Karahalios, Peter & Katherine Gratas, and brother-in-law Peter Sacclaris.
