Life Story

Walter Cloutier Jr., 87, of 8 Orchard Circle, Lewiston, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Services in Auburn. He was born in Lewiston on November 9, 1925, the son of Walter and Alice Dumont Cloutier. Educated locally, he was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’43, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946 as a Flight Engineer, stationed in the Pacific Theater. On May 10, 1947, he married the former Lillian Cote. Walter was formerly associated with Leavitt & Parris Inc. of Lewiston and Portland, retiring as President in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion Post #22, Life Member and former President of the Musical Literary Club, and was a Life Member and former Director of the Northeast Canvas Products Association.  Walter enjoyed life.  He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and taking walks in the woods enjoying the sights and sounds of nature.  He was a loyal Red Sox, Patriots, Maineiacs, and Bruins fan.  Walter loved his grandchildren. He supported and attended all of his grandkids’ sporting events and loved family gatherings.  Besides his loving wife of 66 years, he is survived by two daughters, Diane and husband Steven Ouellette, and Ann-Marie and husband Daniel Dumais, all of Lewiston, four sons, Richard and wife Patricia, Ronald and wife Denise, Robert and wife Patricia, all of Lewiston, and Daniel and wife Linda of Fleming Island, FL, a sister, Reine Cloutier of Lewiston, a brother, Roland Cloutier of Danbury, CT, twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Roger, and a sister, Yolande and great-grandchild James. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice House and D’Youville Pavillion for their support and loving care.
