Life Story

Walter “Walt” James Goulding, 76, of New Gloucester, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Healthcare & Hospice in Auburn, surrounded by his loving family and after a courageous battle with lung disease. Walter was born August 27, 1941, in Danville, the son of Fred C. and Mary Pittepas Goulding. Educated in local schools, he attended Edward Little High School in Auburn. Walt loved baseball, coaching the Auburn Suburban Little League Farm Team in the late 1960’s. In 1972, he went to work as a commercial insulation mechanic, working over 45 years in insulation. He started his own business in 1996, which he operated until his retirement. Walt married Cecily Kinstler Tymoczko in 1979, and they made their home together in New Gloucester. He enjoyed sports, especially the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed races at Oxford Plains Speedway, gambling at various casinos, horse racing, hunting, golfing, and in later years camping with his special friends. He is survived by his wife Cecily, his son Walter Jr. and girlfriend Carol Hart, his daughter Christine and husband Mark Weidert, two step-daughters, Vicki Hilse and Leah Griffin, a step-son, Nick Tymoczko and fiance Kathy Lesprenes, two sisters, Catherine Gravel and Sandra Tukey, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters, Marna Culleton, Mary and Connie Goulding, two sons, Jeffery and Kevin Goulding, and a nephew, Greg Gravel. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Hospice House for all the loving care he received while there.
